“massive blow to Iran and Hezbollah”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu characterized a recently reached agreement with Lebanon—which grants Israel the right to maintain a security presence in southern Lebanon until Hezbollah is disarmed—as a historic achievement that sidelines Tehran and weakens the Iran-aligned militant group. He stated the deal, which includes a pilot disarming program in two areas near the border, demonstrates that Israel is dismantling both the military and diplomatic components of what he called the Iranian axis. Separately, Netanyahu also declared that he sees no possibility for a Palestinian state between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea, saying public opinion has shifted against that solution.
