Donald Trump says Gaza ceasefire agreement "will be carried out in carefully structured phases"

Hamas has announced it will give up its weapons in return for Israeli troops leaving Gaza, a development welcomed by UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, who credited American, Qatari, Turkish, and Egyptian mediators. President Donald Trump said Thursday the agreement would proceed through a series of measured steps. Miliband stressed the need to fully carry out a 20-point plan, including an Israeli military withdrawal and adherence to the ceasefire, and urged Israel to lift aid restrictions. A US-proposed framework from last year calls for Hamas to disarm, Israeli forces to depart as that proceeds, and an international stabilization force to support a new Palestinian police force. Egypt said on Friday both sides had accepted a new 15-point roadmap, with future talks in Cairo.
