Netanyahu called the area essential to Israel’s security and said it would remain under Israeli control. The development follows Washington’s earlier recognition under President Donald Trump. Separately, Israel and Venezuela agreed to restore consular services and establish coordination, their first formal contact since cutting ties in 2009, after Israeli personnel aided Venezuelan earthquake relief. Netanyahu did not mention the deadly earthquake in Colombia that killed over 200 people.
