President Trump said Wednesday on Truth Social that White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will step down at the end of the month, explaining that he respects her decision to devote herself to her young family. Leavitt, who became the youngest press secretary ever when she took the job in 2025, said the role’s demands made it impossible to be the mother she wanted to be, and called the departure emotionally mixed. Trump said she will remain a senior external adviser and an influential Republican voice during the midterm elections. No successor has been named. Leavitt previously served as Trump’s campaign spokesperson and has two children, including a daughter born in May.
