Donald Trump says "we're smiling, Kim Jong Un and I get along GREAT" on their relationship

The White House has signaled that Donald Trump would meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un without requiring prior concessions, and Trump turned Saturday to a 2019 image of the two at the line dividing the Koreas, saying the photo’s stern look was misleading and that their rapport is warm. Whether Pyongyang responds remains unclear as its economic, diplomatic, and military ties with Moscow grow. Trump and Kim met three times during his first term; their June 2019 encounter at the border made Trump the first sitting U.S. president to step into North Korean territory. Trump recently also shared a photo from their 2018 Singapore summit. CSIS analyst Victor Cha wrote Thursday that Kim might seek another round of leader-level talks after the U.S. midterm elections, possibly to solidify North Korea’s status as a nuclear power.
