Trump says he "paused the 50% Tariffs" on Canada after agreeing to a deal
“I have paused the 50% Tariffs against Canada, that were scheduled to kick in tomorrow morning for a three-day period, based on the fact that Canada and the U.S.A., subject to the finalization of documents, have a DEAL!”

President Donald Trump said he agreed to hold off for three days on threatened 50% import taxes on roughly $20 billion in Canadian goods, saying the two governments had reached an arrangement pending paperwork. The tariffs had been set to take effect at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday; Trump posted the reprieve on Truth Social less than two hours beforehand. The levies would have applied to about 5% of Canada’s annual U.S.-bound shipments, spanning items such as athletic equipment and medical supplies. Canada had pledged to respond with its own duties, and the two economies traded about $880 billion in products and services last year. The pause eases, for now, friction between the longtime partners.
