Donald Trump says US and Canada “have a DEAL!” as tariffs delayed
“based on the fact that Canada and the U.S., subject to the finalization of documents, have a DEAL!”

President Trump said late Tuesday that Washington and Ottawa have a deal, so the U.S. is holding off on 50% tariffs that were scheduled to hit Canadian goods at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday. The president’s announcement came just before the duties were to take effect, after the two governments reached a temporary arrangement and planned further talks. The suspended tariffs would have applied to about $20 billion in products, including athletic gear and medical tools, or roughly 5% of Canada’s annual exports to the U.S. Canadian officials had threatened their own trade penalties in response, and the two economies exchanged about $880 billion in goods and services over the past year, giving the dispute significant economic weight.
