Elon Musk says "AI will be 99% of the value" of SpaceX within four or five years

SpaceX recently sought to buy Cognition, an AI coding startup, according to Bloomberg’s reporting from unnamed sources; Cognition’s chief executive disputed the article, saying it was wrong and the company is not for sale. The reported move followed SpaceX’s roughly $60 billion purchase of Cursor and its earlier absorption of Musk’s xAI. Musk reportedly told employees that AI would account for nearly all of SpaceX’s value within four or five years, requiring much more AI revenue. AI coding is a key revenue opportunity as SpaceX competes with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google. Bloomberg said talks were inactive but collaboration remained possible, including Cognition using SpaceX’s computing capacity. Cognition is among the largest independent AI coding startups, valued at $25 billion in May and reportedly in early fundraising talks at $40 billion.
