“Look, it's a Friday night. We have plenty of time, right? What the hell do I have to do? Go back, bomb. Iran a little bit more. What the hell?”

At a Friday night rally in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, President Trump appeared on behalf of Republican Senate candidate Darlene Graham ahead of a runoff election. Discussing Iran, he asserted the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil-shipping corridors, belongs to the United States, offered no legal rationale, and insisted Tehran must never obtain a nuclear weapon. He claimed American strikes had ended that danger, devastated Iran’s command structure, and left him unsure who remained to negotiate with. He also said the confrontation had interrupted his domestic agenda. Then, after inviting the crowd to hear his customary song, Trump suggested he had nothing else to do that evening besides possibly conducting further bombing in Iran.
