Donald Trump says Iran is "not ready to make the right deal" about its willingness to accept a deal
“not ready to make the right deal, in my opinion”

Six months into the US-Iran conflict, President Trump said Friday that Tehran wants an agreement but, in his view, is not yet willing to accept terms Washington considers appropriate. His comment came as Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent prepared to announce new sanctions on Iran that could also hit China, which buys most of Iran’s exported oil; Beijing has called for talks. Iran’s foreign ministry called the planned penalties illegal overreach. Oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz have nearly halted because of Iranian threats, and US military assistance has kept traffic well below prewar levels. Tehran has allowed some Iraqi tankers to transit. Iran’s leaders have promised military retaliation, though President Masoud Pezeshkian has called for a negotiated end.
