Volodymyr Zelensky says call with Macron focused on "the need for air defence"
“and this concerns, first and foremost, the need for air defence”

Emmanuel Macron said Saturday that France will send more missiles able to intercept incoming rockets, after Russian attacks killed people and strained Ukraine’s air defenses. Macron told Volodymyr Zelensky in a phone call that Paris was deepening support, continuing joint efforts, and pledged to provide manufacturing licenses for missiles. Zelensky described the conversation as focusing mainly on protecting Ukrainian cities from aerial attack and said they agreed to deliver France’s newest weapons more quickly. The exchange came before a Monday meeting in Kyiv of the French- and British-led coalition of Ukraine’s backers, with about ten leaders attending on Ukraine’s independence day to discuss ways to increase pressure on Moscow.
