Volodymyr Zelensky says "additional ballistic missile defence packages" needed for Ukraine's defence

After an overnight Russian assault sent explosions through Kyiv and other cities, President Volodymyr Zelensky called for expanded missile-defense support, asking European backers to add American-built interceptors to the aid they had already promised. Moscow’s defense ministry said it hit industrial, energy, transportation, and port installations in nine cities. Ukrainian officials said a 78-year-old woman died and at least nine others were injured, with apartment buildings, schools, and a grain elevator among damaged sites. Kyiv’s air command reported destroying or disabling seven Russian ballistic missiles. Moldova said five drones of unknown origin crossed its borders. Zelensky planned to join Moldova’s independence-day events on Thursday. Separately, Ukraine has sent long-range drones into Russia nearly every night, and retailer Ozon said attacks targeted two of its logistics centers.
