Donald Trump says NBC anchor, pollsters "will be reported to the FCC for rebuke or punishment"
“will be reported to the FCC for rebuke or punishment”
Reported August 31, 2026 by rawstory.com. Checked word for word against that report.
President Donald Trump used Truth Social on Sunday to urge federal regulators to act against an NBC News anchor and polling firms. The anchor, Kristen Welker, host of "Meet the Press," had said on a local NBC affiliate that Trump's 2026 primary endorsements have produced mixed results. Trump called for the FCC, led by his appointee Brendan Carr, to take action against her. In another post, he complained that news organizations' surveys were unreliable and said the FCC should step in. Five days earlier, as previously reported, Trump had made an unsubstantiated claim that major pollsters were coordinating with Democratic officials. Carr, a Project 2025 co-author, has previously acted in ways favorable to the administration's broadcast interests. It remains unclear whether the FCC will respond.
