Russian attacks on Kyiv and nearby areas entered a fifth day Monday, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he spoke by phone with U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, calling the exchange useful. He said Ukrainian and American negotiating teams are talking continuously and are now trying to set dates for the envoys’ trip to Ukraine. The outreach comes after U.S.-led mediation stalled and Washington’s focus shifted to the Iran war. The latest bombardment, including drones with jet engines and warehouse strikes, has emptied some grocery shelves and upset daily life; a Saturday attack killed at least 38 people. Zelensky also conceded that Ukraine has difficulty stopping the new drones.
