German prosecutors have indicted a 50-year-old Ukrainian national, identified in court documents as Serhii K, for allegedly leading a team that used a rented sailing yacht to place explosives on the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines near Denmark in September 2022, severely damaging the key Russian gas routes to Europe. The suspect, arrested in Italy and extradited to Germany, has denied involvement and claims his status as a Ukrainian service member grants immunity. Asked about the charges during a press conference in Dublin, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated he had not yet received any official information on the case and refrained from commenting further. Ukraine’s government has previously denied any role in the pipeline sabotage.
