French President Emmanuel Macron will join King Charles and Prime Minister Andy Burnham at the British Museum on Wednesday for a preview of the Bayeux Tapestry, ahead of the 11th-century embroidery going on public display in London. The 70-meter artifact, stitched in England and long housed in France, recounts the Norman Conquest. Its loan to Britain until July 2027 follows an announcement Macron made during the French state visit to the UK. Macron previously remarked at a Windsor Castle banquet that since some of the tapestry’s final sections are missing, the two nations’ shared story remains unfinished. The event marks the first official joint appearance by Charles and Burnham since the latter became prime minister. Talks between Macron and Burnham are expected to cover Ukraine, the Middle East, and EU relations.
