Donald Trump says Spain “will be a ruined country” for not contributing enough to NATO

Donald Trump, in a GB News interview whose excerpts emerged Thursday, warned that Spain could face ruin for not contributing enough to NATO and tied that criticism to the recent border emergency in Ceuta. Tens of thousands of people entered the Spanish enclave from Morocco around July 30-31, and Trump said Britain also has migration pressures but not comparable mass influxes. He had earlier blamed the crisis on Spain’s prime minister, Pedro Sánchez, citing lax legal standards and mishandling by authorities, and cited a disputed reading of a Supreme Court decision about returning migrants who swam to Ceuta. Spanish officials call that interpretation one of the false messages that spurred people to cross.
