Donald Trump names Adam Telle acting Army secretary, says he is a "Great Patriot"

President Donald Trump named Adam Telle acting Army secretary on Thursday, elevating the assistant secretary for civil works over Undersecretary Michael Obadal, who would ordinarily be next in line. The move followed Army Secretary Dan Driscoll’s resignation after about 18 months; reports said Trump had urged Driscoll to remain through the midterms and that Driscoll had conflicts with Secretary of War Pete Hegseth over officer firings, promotion delays, and modernization efforts. Announcing Telle’s appointment on Truth Social, Trump praised Telle’s character and reputation. A Pentagon spokesman rejected claims of disarray as baseless, and Hegseth welcomed Telle. Telle previously worked for Republican senators and in Trump’s first-term White House. A permanent Army secretary has not yet been chosen.
