Elon Musk says ChatGPT “has woke programmed into its bones” in warning about ideological bias in AI

A conservative media watchdog released a review claiming that several leading AI chatbots showed political bias when asked to rate President Donald Trump as a risk to American democratic governance. The group said ChatGPT gave Trump a nine out of ten, placing him just below Adolf Hitler, while Microsoft’s Copilot, Perplexity, and China’s DeepSeek each gave him an eight. By contrast, Google’s Gemini, Anthropic’s Claude, xAI’s Grok, and Meta AI declined to classify Trump as such a threat. OpenAI said such answers were not supposed to occur and that ChatGPT is trained to stay fair. The report also cited Elon Musk’s 2024 social media post contending that ChatGPT was hardwired with socially liberal bias—wording Musk used to warn about what he calls ideological bias in AI.
