President Donald Trump said on Truth Social that Michael Cohen, his former personal attorney and a witness for prosecutors, had reversed his earlier sworn statements in legal actions pursued by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and New York Attorney General Letitia James. Trump thanked Cohen, said Cohen had been pressured to make false statements, and asked that any remaining cases against him be dismissed. Cohen separately wrote in January that he felt pressure from Bragg and James and their investigators while they built cases against Trump. He also wrote that a federal appeals court had revived Trump’s effort to overturn a May 2024 conviction on 34 business-record counts connected to payments Cohen helped arrange, and that a lower court was to consider whether the case belongs in state court or federal court.
