A viral complaint by the widow of a U.S. airman killed in a March refueling plane crash in Iraq has led the Air Force to correct its earlier denial of certain benefits. Libby Klinner said a military support officer told her that because the Iran mission is not considered a war, her late husband was ineligible for hazardous-duty pay and combat tax breaks. After her social media post gained attention, Vice President JD Vance was asked about the case during a White House briefing Thursday. He promised to examine it, telling Klinner the administration appreciated her husband’s service and would help secure what she is owed. Vance also declined to describe the Iran fighting as a war. The Air Force then acknowledged the previous information was inaccurate and confirmed the full benefits were in the final paycheck.
