Zelensky says to "ensure the normal functioning of Russia airspace" so negotiators can arrive safely

As US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner prepared for talks in Moscow and a planned stop in Kyiv, Volodymyr Zelensky proposed a temporary halt to aerial attacks by both sides so the delegation could travel safely. The Ukrainian president said he was ready to keep Russian airspace clear of Ukrainian strikes for the negotiators’ arrival and expected Russia to do the same. He also alleged that Russian overnight attacks on Kyiv’s airports aimed to throw the envoys’ trip into doubt. Russia separately announced a three-day suspension of strikes on the Ukrainian capital, although attacks elsewhere reportedly continued. The renewed American push to end the nearly five-year war faces wide gaps, with Moscow insisting on Ukrainian territorial concessions and Kyiv rejecting them.
