“They’re too high considering that Oil is now at $68 a Barrel, and heading south. The Retailers must quickly react to this statement, and do what they know is right — DROP YOUR PRICE FOR OUR GREAT AMERICAN PEOPLE!”
President Donald Trump demanded that gasoline retailers cut their prices immediately, arguing that the cost at the pump is unjustified because the price of crude oil has dropped to $68 per barrel. His call came alongside the announcement, on his Truth Social platform, of a “Freedom Fuel Network” involving 25 unnamed gas stations in the Philadelphia area that would lower prices on July 3. Gasoline prices had risen roughly one dollar per gallon after the outbreak of war in early March, though they have since declined by 52 cents over the past month as oil shipments resumed through the Strait of Hormuz, according to AAA. Trump’s statement insists that retailers should pass falling oil costs on to consumers without delay.
