Volodymyr Zelensky says "never an opportunity to resume aggression against Ukraine" on peace talks

US intermediaries Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Kyiv on Sunday for their first official government visit, one day after meeting Vladimir Putin in Moscow, as part of a new push to end Russia’s long-running invasion of Ukraine. After two rounds of discussion with the Americans, President Volodymyr Zelensky said the objective is a just peace that would make a future Russian attack impossible. He thanked the envoys for traveling by train and said British, French, and German national security advisers would join subsequent talks. Witkoff called the exchanges meaningful, while Kushner said President Donald Trump wants conditions for lasting peace. A Ukrainian official said the focus was surviving the winter. The effort has lost ground because Washington spent six months focused on Iran, and overnight strikes killed civilians on both sides.
