This action is part of an escalating tariff dispute between the two nations. Trump claimed that Canada prevents American banks and companies from operating there, stating that this situation must end. Earlier this year, he had threatened to decertify Bombardier planes and impose tariffs, which did not materialize. The current threat follows Canada's imposition of retaliatory tariffs on U.S. products, which began Tuesday, in response to earlier U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods.
