JD Vance tells Charlie Kirk's children: "if we are His children, then we are also His heirs"

At the Republican National Committee’s first midterm convention in Dallas, Vice President JD Vance spoke on the one-year anniversary of conservative political activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination at Utah Valley University. Addressing Kirk’s two young children, Vance honored their father’s memory, praised widow Erika Kirk, and used a New Testament passage to offer religious comfort about believers’ place in God’s family and their promised legacy. He also accused Democrats of being driven by hostility, attributed that to leftist and socialist candidates, and cited examples he said showed some Democratic candidates disparaging the country or the nuclear family. Vance urged voters to reject that approach in November’s midterms. The convention also featured President Trump promoting a conditional $5,000 dividend and Pastor Robert Jeffress criticizing Senate candidate James Talarico.
