Volodymyr Zelensky says he is "grateful to India" for its stance on the war with Russia

During Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar's visit to Kyiv this month, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a positive remark about India's approach to the war with Russia. The remark preceded Russian President Vladimir Putin's arrival in New Delhi for an 11-nation BRICS summit, where the Middle East and Ukraine conflicts were expected to dominate. India has maintained ties with both Moscow and Kyiv while balancing relations with Iran, Israel and Washington. Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian are due to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with Chinese President Xi Jinping also expected. The expanded bloc includes countries with sharply different positions on the wars, creating tension over its unity, analysts said.
