As Britain and the United States marked the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, Andy Burnham cautioned that terrorism continues to endanger democratic societies and affirmed Britain's solidarity with America. Ceremonies were held on both sides of the Atlantic on Friday, with US ambassador Warren Stephens and his wife laying a white floral tribute at the September 11th Memorial Garden in Grosvenor Square, London, honoring the 67 British citizens among the 2,977 killed. Burnham left a written dedication on a wreath there about remembering the victims and upholding shared principles. The commemorations came amid strains in transatlantic ties, including disagreement over the Iran war. The 2001 attacks, which killed people from more than 90 countries, remain the deadliest terror attack on record.
