Trump says of AI contest with China, "We are leading China" and "I intend to keep it that way"

President Donald Trump announced in a Truth Social post that he plans to create an artificial intelligence force and appoint an official to lead the effort, comparing the proposed entity to the Space Force established during his first term. He said the goal is to support the AI industry without holding back its expansion, while still checking wrongdoing through existing legal systems. Trump described AI as the next Industrial Revolution or internet and predicted it could eventually represent as much as a quarter of U.S. economic output. He framed the initiative as a way to keep the United States at the front of a worldwide technology contest that includes China, and said he would soon name his pick for the oversight role, with applicants expected to be highly intelligent.
