Tim Cook says "longstanding commitment to Australia" after Albanese talks on online child safety
“longstanding commitment to Australia”
Reported September 20, 2026 by theage.com.au. Checked word for word against that report.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese met Apple CEO Tim Cook and other executives at Apple Park in Cupertino during a California trip, in a closed-door session that journalists could not photograph or record. Their roughly hour-long talks followed a June call about Apple's new parental safeguards and came as Albanese promotes Australia's restrictions on social media use by children under 16. Cook later wrote online that he welcomed Albanese and that they discussed Australia and software designed to reduce online risks for young users. Apple's features let parents limit app and device time and restrict messaging. Albanese said he took pride in Apple's chief acknowledging Australia's work to shield minors from online harm.
