“It is my Great Honor to have just signed Pardons for six people who were persecuted by the Biden Administration, and were in, or being sent to, prison, for ‘fixing their car,’”
President Donald Trump granted clemency to 11 individuals on Friday, including nine people convicted under the Clean Air Act for disabling vehicle emissions monitors or selling bypass devices. The president announced on social media that he had signed pardons for six people he claimed were persecuted under the prior administration for “fixing their car.” The White House later released a full list, which also included a former business partner of lobbyist Jack Abramoff, Adam Kidan, who pleaded guilty to fraud in a 2005 gambling boat scandal. The pardons follow a recent Trump memo directing the EPA to allow owners to repair their vehicles without emissions restrictions. These actions continue a pattern of executive clemency in the president’s second term.
