Trump says of Ukraine war: "25,000 people, mostly soldiers, are being killed each month"

President Donald Trump urged Ukraine on Monday to halt strikes on Russian oil facilities, writing on Truth Social after a Sunday call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The comment came after weekend Ukrainian drone attacks on Moscow-area refineries and continued fighting despite Trump's announcement last week that both countries had agreed to stop hitting each other's energy sites. Trump said Russia's diesel refining had been severely disrupted and that the war must end, citing its human toll. Moscow's mayor said defenses downed over 1,600 drones since Saturday, with several reaching a refinery and one hitting an apartment building; Ukrainian strikes have reportedly cut Russian refining capacity, causing fuel shortages and higher prices. U.S. diesel reached a record average, according to AAA.
