Donald Trump tells Mamdani about the question of Trump as fascist: "you could just say, ‘Yes,’"

President Donald Trump met New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani at Gracie Mansion on Monday, their third encounter in under a year, and afterward CNN commentator Ashley Allison said on NewsNight that Mamdani got the better of the event by continuing to take reporters' questions after the president was told his time was up, leaving Trump standing alongside him. The two have shown an unusual rapport despite opposing politics; at a prior Oval Office meeting in November, when a reporter asked Mamdani whether he still regarded Trump as a fascist, Trump responded with amusement, telling him he could simply answer yes rather than explain. At Monday's meeting Trump said he hoped Mamdani would be a good mayor, while Mamdani said the two had spoken candidly about their disagreements, including immigration policy.
