Donald Trump says "Dark Day for 'Justice'" in Missouri redistricting fight
“This is a Dark Day for 'Justice' in Missouri!”

Missouri’s congressional redistricting fight escalated after a federal appellate panel ruled Monday that the state cannot use its 2022 map for the November 2026 general election and must instead use boundaries enacted in 2025. Those boundaries, passed as HB 1, replace the earlier map and make the Kansas City-area district held by Democratic Rep. Emanuel Cleaver more Republican-leaning, likely adding a GOP House seat. The state Supreme Court had unanimously ruled on Sept. 3 that the 2025 map had to be ratified by voters in a November referendum; President Donald Trump criticized that ruling at the time. A liberal group, People Not Politicians, had sued to stop the 2025 map. The 8th Circuit’s decision gives the U.S. Supreme Court until Monday afternoon to intervene; the group plans an emergency appeal.
