Donald Trump says he told longstanding associates "You just can’t come" to Xi's state dinner

President Donald Trump is hosting Chinese President Xi Jinping for the first U.S. state visit by a Chinese leader in more than ten years, with an arrival ceremony at Joint Base Andrews on Wednesday and White House events Thursday, including private talks, a Rose Garden troop review and a state dinner. Ahead of the visit, Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that interest in the dinner was so great he had turned down longstanding associates. The two leaders are expected to address trade, Taiwan, artificial intelligence, Iran and critical minerals amid a relationship the article describes as fragile and occasionally frosty. Tech figures reportedly expected at the dinner include Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos and Tim Cook. Xi departs Friday after tea and a National Archives tour.
