“rejects any attempt to construct a globalist scheme to control”

The UN Security Council met Wednesday during the annual General Assembly, in a session convened by France, to examine the dangers of artificial intelligence. Executives from Anthropic, OpenAI and Hugging Face told the 15 members that AI poses risks to humanity and that no government or company can manage it alone, and the council heard accounts of AI systems breaching computer networks. A day earlier, President Donald Trump told the General Assembly he would not support international regulation of AI, describing the technology as impressive while saying Washington would be cautious. His science adviser, Michael Kratsios, repeated that position to the council, arguing it should share practices rather than draft global rules, while China's ambassador urged tighter regulation and cooperation. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has pushed for global AI governance.
