President Donald Trump's removal of White House press credentials from CNN, Politico and MS NOW went before U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly on Wednesday, with the outlets arguing the ban violates the First Amendment and should be halted. The Justice Department countered that White House access is a privilege, not a right, citing administration claims of unprofessional conduct and publication of sensitive information. Kelly, a Trump appointee who ruled against the administration in a 2018 press-pass case, pressed the government on due process and said he would act quickly but did not rule. Trump, writing on Truth Social, called Kelly a good judge for the outlets, predicted his administration would appeal, and said news organizations that report only negatively should not have White House access. More than four dozen media groups filed a brief supporting the outlets.
