Donald Trump says New York Times reporter's Iran war coverage is "sort of treasonous"
“I actually think it's sort of treasonous what you write”

Speaking to New York Times correspondent David Sanger at a May 15 press gathering, President Donald Trump characterized the reporter's coverage of the war with Iran as an act of betrayal against the United States. It was one of at least nine occasions since March on which he has applied such a charge to news coverage, according to a Media Matters tally of his posts and public remarks. The comment came as the Iran war he began on February 28 faltered, and after his administration barred CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House — a step the Justice Department defended in a court filing as necessary to protect national security. A judge ordered the credentials restored, but the outlets' journalists were turned away again the next morning.
