“never had any personal animosity”
Outgoing British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, in his first public remarks since announcing his resignation on June 22, used a recent BBC interview to urge his likely successor, former Manchester mayor Andy Burnham, not to neglect global instability while focusing solely on domestic challenges. Starmer, who will remain in Parliament, asserted that foreign and home affairs are inseparable and that the next Labour leader will face the same dangerous world. Responding to speculation about friction between them, Starmer stated that he holds no personal ill will toward Burnham and pledged full support for the transition. Burnham, the sole candidate to lead the centre-left party, could assume office by mid-July.
