Xi Jinping says he and Trump had "sincere and in-depth exchanges" on multiple issues

At a state dinner for Chinese President Xi Jinping, U.S. President Donald Trump said ties between their countries were improving despite continuing differences, noting that their governments differ but that the connection between their peoples remains and relations have strengthened. Trump also gave Xi an artwork by a U.S. artist that he said he and Melania Trump helped design. Xi said the two leaders discussed multiple issues and reached agreement on some, which he said would help set the course for stable relations. He described the presidents’ reciprocal visits within less than six months as a milestone in bilateral relations. Xi also said America’s and China’s national goals could reinforce each other and called on both major countries to act responsibly.
