Volodymyr Zelensky says war is "escalating every single day" amid Kyiv attacks

As the war continues into its fifth year, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s comments came amid weekend attacks by both sides that left at least seven dead in Russia and Ukraine, according to reports. Zelensky said two people died in Zaporizhzhia, and Sumy officials reported another two fatalities and an injured child. In Kyiv, authorities said a residential building in Solomianskyi was hit and several people were wounded, after daytime strikes killed seven in the capital a day earlier. Russian forces have intensified strikes on Kyiv, including during daylight, as another winter approaches. Zelensky said Ukraine struck a refinery in Krasnodar and a plant in Rostov; Krasnodar officials reported three fatalities from Ukrainian drone strikes. Russian President Vladimir Putin has said he wants to take remaining eastern Ukrainian territory and has declined direct talks with Zelensky.
