Mark Rutte says NATO told Russia "stop the nuclear threat"
“Basically what we said is, ‘Hey, listen, we are defensive alliance, and stop the nuclear threat. This is absolutely not called for and not helpful,’”

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said the alliance gave a brief reply to a written Russian message sent after President Vladimir Putin, while saying Moscow had no plans to attack Europe, warned that aggression would be met with its whole arsenal, nuclear arms included, and Russian embassies in Europe said they had information that NATO was preparing to blockade Kaliningrad. Alliance spokeswoman Allison Hart said NATO denounced threats of force, denied targeting the exclave and told Moscow its exercises endanger no part of Russia; the response also urged an end to the war in Ukraine. Kaliningrad, between Poland and Lithuania, houses Russia's Baltic fleet base and nuclear-capable missiles. Rutte said Moscow wants to divide allies and distract them from Ukraine, and that supplying Kyiv further is the answer.
