Narendra Modi tells Flydubai captain after his apology "if you won’t be emotional in front of me"

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke by phone with Captain Smit Machchhar, who is hospitalized in Saudi Arabia after an alleged hijacking attempt on a Flydubai flight bound for Tel Aviv. According to the source, Machchhar’s Omani co-pilot attacked him over Jordanian airspace; despite his injuries, the captain opened the cockpit so crew members and passengers could enter and restrain the attacker. The plane carried 174 people, including 166 Israelis, dropped roughly 17,000 feet, sent emergency codes tied to hijacking, turned off its radar and was out of contact with Israeli controllers for more than 30 minutes; two other pilots landed it in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. Modi thanked Saudi and Emirati authorities for the pilot’s care, offered future help, and made the quoted comment after Machchhar apologized for becoming emotional.
