Anthony Albanese says "my thoughts are with everyone injured" after Newcastle car hits crowd

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was among those who responded after a car struck a crowd in Newcastle, New South Wales, on Saturday. Police said an 18-year-old rugby fan’s vehicle went out of control and hit people gathered to send off the Newcastle Knights before Sunday’s grand final against the Sydney Roosters. Ten people were hurt, including children; police said a 5-year-old girl and a 67-year-old man were critically injured. The driver was detained. Albanese posted on X about the crash, and the Knights’ captain also shared a message for the community.
