““Storms bring luck to whatever the occasion. They also make events a little bit more exciting!””
President Donald Trump insisted he would deliver his Saturday evening Fourth of July address at the Lincoln Memorial despite severe thunderstorms that had prompted the evacuation of the Great American State Fair in Washington, D.C., earlier that day. In a phone call to Fox News anchor Bret Baier, Trump stated he would proceed with the speech, even if it had to be shortened or pushed into the early morning hours. He later wrote on Truth Social that storms bring good fortune and make occasions more thrilling, comparing the weather to hardships veterans faced on D-Day. The speech, part of the nation’s 250th birthday celebration, was ultimately moved from 10:00 p.m. to around 11:00 p.m. ET.
