Following a US president's announcement of an "energy ceasefire" between Russia and Ukraine, which Kyiv and some European allies viewed with skepticism, the president suggested Ukraine needed a new leader to resolve the conflict. This statement came after the president eased some sanctions on Russian diesel, drawing criticism from Ukraine and its Western partners. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky responded that leadership choices belong to his nation's citizens. Meanwhile, Russia has not confirmed its participation in the announced ceasefire, and Ukraine reported strikes on its power plants.
