Donald Trump says "a devoted fan and member of MAGA" of new press secretary Katie Zacharia

President Trump’s appointment of Katie Zacharia as White House press secretary provides the setting for his comment that she is an admirer and part of his political coalition. In announcing the pick, Trump highlighted her years of loyalty and support. Zacharia, 41, an attorney and former communications adviser to Trump Media & Technology Group, is scheduled to hold her first briefing Tuesday. She enters the role as Trump’s popularity has reached recorded lows, Republicans seek to limit midterm losses, and the administration is locked in a legal dispute with journalists over access. Zacharia has worked for conservative organizations and praised Trump’s policies. The appointment places a longtime backer in the administration’s top spokesperson job during those challenges.
