Donald Trump says "now is the time for all Republicans to unite behind Bernadette" in Alaska race

During a Tuesday rally in Wasilla, Alaska, President Donald Trump endorsed Republican Bernadette Wilson in the state’s four-candidate governor’s race and pressed Republican voters to back her candidacy. Wilson is competing with fellow Republicans Dave Bronson and Treg Taylor and Democrat Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins for the seat held by Mike Dunleavy, a Republican who cannot run again. Polling showed the three Republicans trailing Kreiss-Tomkins, and the Cook Political Report said the contest now favors Democrats because the Republican vote is divided. Trump announced his support online shortly before the event; Bronson disputed Trump’s account of an earlier conversation. At the rally, Trump also backed U.S. Sen. Dan Sullivan, U.S. Rep. Nick Begich III, and a measure to repeal Alaska’s election system.
