Andy Burnham tells Zelensky "behind you and that will not change" as UK backs Ukraine

UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Downing Street on Wednesday and conveyed lasting British support, according to an account of the meeting. The two leaders determined that Moscow was not pursuing a peaceful settlement, a government spokesperson said. The talks came as London sought to increase backing for Kyiv after U.S. President Donald Trump suggested the Kremlin was more ready than Ukraine’s government to end the war. Burnham pledged quicker deliveries of air-defense missiles and continued diplomatic efforts to secure defensive equipment. Ukraine-U.S. ties have been strained; Trump recently eased sanctions on Russian diesel, and Zelensky said Kyiv received no advance notice of Russian missile strikes on Monday and Tuesday. Burnham said he would seek to rebuild Trump’s support for Ukraine.
