“my partners told me that the administration and the White House sent a message to SpaceX asking them”

Ukraine said Wednesday that service from a SpaceX satellite system had been curtailed. Ukraine uses Starshield, SpaceX’s military-grade service, for battlefield communications, mid-range strikes and interceptor drones, and also uses Starlink. The report came shortly after President Donald Trump criticized Ukraine and urged it to stop attacking Russian oil refineries. On Friday, Volodymyr Zelensky said the service was being restored and that he had been told Washington contacted SpaceX about it. A U.S. official, speaking anonymously, said Trump made no such request, after Reuters reported that the White House had done so. Elon Musk said limits on Starshield’s speed or usage were decided by the U.S. military and ultimately the president. Relations between Washington and Kyiv have grown tense, with Trump calling for Zelensky’s replacement after Zelensky criticized a U.S. deal allowing more Russian diesel into global markets.
